Artist's Commentary

Special thanks to all of the new Fans of Newt and John for coming back to see episode #2!

Each episode takes so much preparation. Not so much for the characters, but the backgrounds. Since I'm building 'Newt and John's House' from scratch, there's a lot of thought that has to go into every detail... because these rooms will be shown again in future episodes. So, I need to plan in advance how the design of each room will affect each character's use of that room.

For example, the Kitchen Table. I wanted to go with a cool 'Retro Theme', but moreso, I wanted these items to be affordable pieces of furniture. I went with a classic chrome-edge diner-style 'Formica' kitchen table with two matching stools. I chose stools, because it is common knowledge that they can be adjustable in height. This is important since the two characters are different heights, so the stools needed to be adjusted so Newt and John can sit at a reasonable eye level to each other.

Anyways, there's just a little insight as to what went into this comic. Come back for the next episode this Monday, and don't forget to eat your Oatey Rings!
