...and our story continues...

I like playing with dynamic lighting in the backgrounds. I left off the last comic fading to a sunset as I knew I'd be darkening the sky over the panels of this episode. I couldn't make it completely dark, or you wouldn't see much of the characters. I added tints of blue to the overall island and characters as the panels progress to fit the scene better into the environment.

I always had this picture in my mind of Newt and John on this island, looking up at the stars at night, but I wasn't really sure what the story would be. I just started with the first panel on this episode, and the rest sort of wrote itself. I did have some 'staging issues' on this episode though, as I prefer to have the speech balloons point right at the character without it crossing over the opposite character. The main way I was able to switch the position of Newt and John half-way through the star gazing panels, was by simply having John say "If you come over here you can see the Big Dipper". That one speech balloon saved me a lot of layout problems in the panels that followed.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this latest episode. As mentioned in the website News, Updates are now on Wednesdays... for a nice break mid-week... but more because my work deadlines are late Mondays and I need time to make the new comic. Hope to see you here next week... Please take a moment to vote, and tell your friends!

Cheers,
