Artist's Commentary

WRITER'S BLOCK!.. Wow, this episode took the longest time to finish! Not only was the dialogue fighting me, but nearly every panel needed custom background artwork, the collapsed island, the rising tide, reflections, etc... each required special 'masking' effects when designed in Flash. Then when the artwork was arranged with the speech balloons, I found some balloons wouldn't fit without covering important areas of the background... so I revised more.

I had fun with the writing and situations on this one, but for the longest time, I had a different response from Newt in the 1st panel... finally, the 'Queen' line seemed like the best 'comeback', and then the rest of the dialogue came easily. Due to some of the background and speech balloon issues, I decided to change 'who said what' in a couple panels... without affecting the story telling.

The idea of the 'Really big Bottle' being how Newt and John escape the island, has been in my mind since before I did the first episode of the series. I always had this image in mind of them sailing the ocean in a giant bottle. I liked that it was a twist on the classic 'sending a note in a bottle to find help' used in many deserted island stories.

The next episode WILL be added on Thursday of this week... and the next on the Monday after that.
